I just dont care about pro football/ a review of Superbowl 45

I played high school football and still love watching college games.I just don't care if Pro Football goes on strike!

NFL tickets are way too expensive and the hassle of getting there and out is a real drag. TV coverage gets worse every year and the sports announcers more egotistic and obnoxious. And puhlease get the women away from the microphone. Can the men of this country have at least one thing that is theirs without some bimbo know it all know nothing trying to horn in. The players are all prima donnas, the coaches are too conservative, there is not much sportsmanship and some pretty foul hitting to cripple.
The good news I suppose, is I have a TV again or so I thought. I cuss it out far too frequently. So not having a TV by choice for the last four years, not watching any football up until yesterday, and my observations of HDTV are the topics of this rant.

First Super Bowl 45
Polamalu, Troy for the Steelers played some of the dirtiest football I have ever seen.,One particularly dirty play he was repeatedly hitting a down player with his helmet after the play was dead.He wasn't called for unsportsmanlike conduct The NFL Commissioner should review the tape and bench him for a few games.
I thought the officiating was pretty good except for the call against the Packers after the defensive pass interception touchdown. Fifteen yards for celebrating a defensive touchdown come on. All and all I thought it was a pretty good game.It was not filled with the Pro bowler overly cautious coaches requirement of never get caught making a game losing gamble but then there weren't that many mid field fourth and inch decisions.

For the first time in Superbowl history I didn't think the actual shooting of the game, the actual camera work was that good. I missed a lot of the critical plays, or at least a good shot of them.Perhaps they are depending on the replay button to much.
On my new 19 inch HDTV I couldn't see the field goals and the constant very wide shot left me out of the game.SO a big thumb down to the technical Fox crews.

If you know me, a big thumbs down to Fox Broadcasting across the board. I find any Network that wants to broadcast the likes of Bill Orielly and Glen Beck and then wrap them selves up in the Super Bowl and the over the top Patriotic hype a bit more than disgusting.
It is my firm belief that Rupert Murdoch is out to damage this country for his own greed. Although the Super Bowl is an event bigger than any one man, the days of just blindly accepting these show biz mogul jerks that get the HUGE profits from gaming the system should be OVER. Why should some Aussie profit a nickle from the Super Bowl. Its an American made and played game.

If the NFL wants to be fan friendly, the Super Bowl should be played in either one of the cities that has a team in the game. The idea that during one of the worst winter storms of the year fans to fly close to a two thousand miles round trip is too much.

Which brings me to the pre-show pre-game half time and post show coverage all which sucked canal water.
Nothing but fast talking experts stretching their egos. It would have been better to see well produced segments about how the teams were preparing and the individual reactions of players of making it to the big dance. The fans had no glimpse into any any of the celebrations or activities around the game. Or any of the hard work that went into producing it or setting it up.
With all the planning of the Super Bowl, Dallas Stadium really isnt a very good set for the game. The green of the field was too dark, it didnt seem that well lighted, the broadcast canceled out too much of the real sound of the stadium.
The pregame Other than Christen Aguilara having the guts to sing the National Anthem in a strained A cappella way, totally forgettable. Again it was really badly shot the cameras were in the wrong position and the whole thing was a rushed jumble of awkwardness.
I for one think the game should be played during the day. I simply dont care about the overblown half time schizophrenic half time blunder busts.

The game itself. Pretty good both quarterbacks have really good strong, accurate arms. There weren't any stellar runs, no trick plays, some swarming sacks, a couple of shifts in momentum, but nothing really to write home about.
The half time show an almost total flop except for the schizophrenic energy. The Black Eyed Peas were way over thier heads, with zero musicality. The light up costumes were cool but the whole show sounded awful, the mikes didn't work, and why would you bother flying in performers from the ceiling when you could only see them for the last twenty feet,? The only thing remember-able about it was Ushers flying leap down a level into full splits, that had to hurt.
ThenI AM OVER Rap and HIP HOP and the whole gangsta stupid black takeover of the music industry. Enough, !!!!!!! Disco died and its way past time that this crap goes to the back burner.

The second half .I thought Green Bay was going to blow the win. That doesnt make for the best Super Bowl. Its really bad form to end the game by falling down on the ball for the last two downs. Spike it, throw it away,do something,
The post game show. It was just a mess.the stupid 4 person platform without the players, bad.An owner that was unprepared to talk to the World? At least you can compose a memorable phrase or quote Lombardi. The old days where the team was in the locker room cracking open the champagne were a lot more fun and real. The swarms of people pouring onto the field who really have nothing to do with the game is a chaotic mess and is tasteless.
So from someone who has seen every Super Bowl and remembers a time when there wasn't one, the real charm of it is lost.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
And now a strike? Maybe you haven't killed thy golden goose yet but your goose is cooked with me. Arevaderchi Buckoos

Me all be out surfing if my back holds up.One of the memorable problems I got from High School football.

Rants Honest photos / UFOs/Secrecy/Nukes

One of the things we have given up with our tech is we used to be able to look at a photograph and say with at least a little bit of confidence that the photo is real and not been photo shopped or manipulated.I know dark room tricks have been around since the art was invented.

I don't think there is a judge in the country that can now look at a photo or a video tape and wonder if its not been tampered with. To that end I call upon the photo image geeks to come up with a formula and a system that could be embedded in cameras that says conclusively this is the image that was shot on this day and in this time, in this camera and with this system in place it can not be changed or altered or at least noted with an obvious artifact in the image.

I have dabbled in photo shop and video rendering enough to get a pretty good idea when an image has been manipulated.I am sure there are people that can snooker me.
It dawns on me that all the images on Google Earth may not be accurate if National Security is in play.I would like to know that Other than the obvious and rare blot outs..When I examine UFO media I'd like to know for certain there hasn't been any manipulation. I can not believe NASA. I see the actual images unprocessed coming down from Hubble, then I see the images they put out to the public Im not too sure there hasn't been a whole lot of Artistic license. Its not like the stars are a string of colored twinkle lights.I know enough to know why they justify what they are doing .

Then the entire Space Physics departments are out doing themselves in with wild theories each out postulating themselves. When Stephen Hawkings comes up with mankind better be afraid of an Alien encounter its time to draw a line. Just because every time a primitive people have come in contact with a more"civilized" advanced race has meant great harm to the primitives, is to say that any alien species that has achieved centuries more development then we mortal humans would not have evolved protocols and systems to not severely harm native life forms seems silly. "W have traveled a 100 million light years and you look edible, want all your zirconium, first editions of Mark Twain plus the 2009 Playboy centerfold will make good breeding stock."
On the other hande , we dont seem to be able to o0vercome greed and opportunism to our own detriment I refuse to believe its an eternal theme that carries across galaxies. Then great space travel over vast distances no matter what state of evolution is going to be costly in hours , the sacrifice, and equipment to make the journey.

I really believe that two intelligent life forms from different parts of the Universe are going to be overjoyed to discover that they are not the only ones. Not that there wont be cultural clashes.
Our moralities and religions have for the most part been written to give everyone rules of the road why would we think Aliens wouldn't have developed comparable ideas.
The one part of the equation that postulates the possibility of other life in the Universe I dont think quantifies, its intelligent enough to communicate, or that it lives at the same time frame. Its been rare so far with no real concrete proof to the contrary, at least proof that the public has.

To that end I propose to future generations to build a space lighthouse using the power of the Sun to blink out PI over and over to every quadrant and see if it gets a response. Perhaps large silica panels that act as a lens to blink out the code in dots and dashes using the power of the sun. I'm not expert but I think SETI might have some success if they scanned in the visible spectrum perhaps in off handed ways, others already are..

One of the hobbies I am thinking of undertaking is the daunting quest to just competently observe and record , But dam the equipments so expensive!
I would like to see a fleet of well equipped vans with radar and the best optical long range cameras stationed in quadrants of the country to start chasing some of the UFO activity. You know the military will try to stop it. the Delta wing three spotlight blinking landing craft type lights have been spotted all over the USA.Some pretty compelling video footage. My guess its quiet and stealth aircraft that mostly flies at night.thousands of people in Phoenix saw the UFOs Luke Airforce Base right there jets at the ready was called and they did nothing but deny, why?
Lastly I dont mind that the government has secret bases and secret airplanes able to do things it would be best if everyone didn't know about.
After the 60 year old story of this country going to another country to make innocent people sick with STDS Im sorry bucko you blew the US citizens trust.
So I want Bill Clintons ridiculous edict about Area 51 and the whole Groom Lake thing lifted.
Why because nothing should be so secret there isnt accountability and a clear a definite chain of current accountability if something goes wrong. From the looks of some of the stuff Ive seen on Google Earth it looks like something went hay wire with a burned and aborted part of the complex.
When an Air Force Officer announces that guards reported a UFO and his missiles went dead and the government wants to play deaf dumb and silent for decades. We need to get to the bottom of it, if they haven't.How many hot broken arrows are there? Why haven't you recovered them all? Some I guess off the cuff news reports are that the main stay of military secrets have all ready been compromised by the Chinese. I think because you are trying to guard too much and declare everything classified your not keeping things secret that you should.
To the real issue Im talking about the militarys constant denial with the number of very credible reports on UFOs makes me and everyone else think you are trying to cover something up.
Let me say this quite clearly. The discovery that there is intelligent life forms in other parts of the Universe is an Epic milestone of such gigantic proportions, that if for any reason you decide to with hold this information from the public, you should and will be treated as a criminal. No matter what your reasoning. It would have to be held that you are holding such information not as protection but for your own or corporate interests which are not the interests of the world as a whole. This is a Republic of the people and by the people and if you decide otherwise you are going to be held in contempt of the Constitution.
In this same vein. Corporations are not underwriting the shuttle or the ISS Station enough to be able to claim proprietary hold on information gathered from their exploits. the USA public deserves a big payback and cut of any such informnation
It wouldn't hurt the Navy to develop a program where the USA nuclear submarine fleet on their regular patrols isn't doing more on reporting on the health and conditions of the oceans.
The days of mutually assured destruction are over.I suppose that even today the possibility of overwhelming retaliation by our nuclear submarines may chill the nerves of a sane aggressor.
It seems that it wont effect terrorists who believe in a religious Valhalla. The chances are that a bomb will be smuggled in and detonated.Whats the NAvy and the DOD going to do then indescrimanently strike back at suspects, or wait for months to sift threw the rubble. So if owning and operateing nuclear attack submarines is driveing other countries to develop them and they really will be the death of us all maybe. The time is comeing to drop them down to conventional and stealthy pin point accuracy.I hope the military understands this and doesnt make it a game of, only if we are the last ones to have any.
I am not an expert in any of it.I have one big fat ugly truth on my side. There has never been an offensive weapon that man hasn't discovered and used in mass. The other big truth everybody better start saying loudly is we can not afford to every cross that path. From Mc Arthur in Korea, then Cuba, ammunition of depleted uranium, to talk of tactical nukes are ok, we keep the creep up to inevitability and it has to stop.! Its not a game of chicken to see who blinks first. If we survive humanity at best will be forced back into a God Awful Dark Ages. The slow down ,gradual disarmament notion is a failure with more countries getting developing and deploying. Its time for a world wide stop and dismantle order before its too late. IF you believe Bush we had no idea 9/11 was comeing. Considering our history as a people we know another World War is inevitable, hence a major nuclear exchange. So have the sense to elimanate all WMDS not cut back .All it would take is a unanimous declaration from the UN that any nation that iniates a first WMD strile will be totally and completely destroyed by all other nations. No quarter ,no humanitarian stops leveled with no reconstruction or relief. The politicians know that if the Worlds population could vote on it, out they would go.So do it and quit giving us reasons why we should not or wont. Its a handful of power mad egotists who want the power to destroy themselves and everybody else all in the name of national security which is no security at all and its sick.

Artificial Surf Reef for Corpus Christi Texas

I have surfed all over the USA though i will say I avoid really cold water unless the surf is pur...fect.
When I was a kid in Sarasota /Bradenton just across the channel north of Coquina Beach there was a washed out sea wall about a hundred yards out that over the years turned into the best beach break . There was an old artisan well pipe that spat out fresh water in spurts covered in barnacles it made an interesting obsticle that was avoided at all cost.
It really didn't appear to do any damage to the beach by wash out .It made a really nice curling 3- 4 foot break in area where it was pretty rare to get any decent surf at all.
My point is almost the same conditions are here directly across the Gulf in Texas. Except here it appears that on a continual basis the surf is higher and more frequent. It rarely has any long pipes. It is a typically washy shore break that forces a lot of short rides. This isn't always true but generally its the conditions.
There have been all sorts of fancy artificial reefs put in world wide . They have all meant one thing a big increase by surfers in using the spot. Corpus Christi could really use that. There is an added benefit that Florida is using quite effectively, reefs make great breeding grounds for all sorts of sea life.Surf Fishing is a big sport here in South Texas.

I suppose the first thing is to get designs for the best designs considering the conditions. Start figureing a possible budget based on a cost benefit plan including the myriad expenses acquired in government regulations when you do anything with either state or federal beach land.
Positive PR would be a big part of cutting the red tape.Perhaps a non profit corporation is needed. Certainly surf erosion would have to be considered quite closely.
An artificial reef would be a big tourist draw and hence quite a benefit to all the hotels motels restaurants and surf shops. It would increase the already growing SAil Board Sport Industry.
I would think an added fee for close parking would cover the cost perhaps temporary leases on close suppliers might help.
I'd be pleased as punch just to get that together but I might like to take it a step further and put in a permanent Concert Stage that would cater to Surf Music. Selena is still a big hero here in Corpus and the interest in local generated music has been bubbling just under the surface.

To borrow an expression from the movies "Build it and they will come"
If I carry this idea and dream threw I only have a few requirements.
1. It has to be environmentally sound.
2. It has to be an area that's kept clean and friendly to all.
3. It has to be family friendly but should be a good solid world class break not necessarily meant for the inexperienced or weak surfer and swimmer.
4. It should break even and be well maintained but the surfing are is not meant in of itself a profit center. Hence any fees associated with the project should be kept to a minimum.
5. Surfing as sports go is not a dangerous sport as sports go.It does have its dangers its part and parcel of the sport. The spirit of Texas must imbue this project free independent and responsible use is whats called for.Not creating a surf area that s overwhelmed by Nany State rules that are put in place to protect idiots from themselves. Its just as simple as taking what Nature gave us and improving it to create better wave forms for all to use and enjoy.

Let me know your thoughts and if you have an interest in seeing something like this happen.
I suggest we base any conversations at the or meet-ups to start at the Executive Surf

Los Angeles is broke? Really?

California has a state income tax, sales taxes and all the rest. They charge a premium for gasoline. They say they are the entertainment capital of the world. so whats the deal? On top of Hollywood and all that which is a lot, they still have a good deal of aerospace and music distribution. In that county more cars are sold then any other county in the country. They sure dont give anybody any break on fees. The city services suck. It takes years to get sidewalks and pot holes filled. Since the 70s they have had homicidal gangs running wild in the streets shooting up neighborhoods. They now charge renter fees every year which I have never heard of anywhere else. Mass transit doesn't run 24 hours a day. They probably collect more in parking fines then most cities have in their entire city budget. They dump a hundred thousand gallons of raw sewage in the ocean every year so its not like they have built the best a most modern infrastructures.
If they aren't ground zero for a huge earthquake they are at the top of the list and should dam well be running huge surpluses so they don't get caught with their pants down like New Orleans.
True they brushed up Hollywood built the Disney City Center Theater and gotten at least the beginnings of some sort of mass transit system in. The transit system is so poor most people still drive and jam up the freeways for hours.
IF you think Im angry your right. La has the worst politicians I have ever seen. They have ruined the city they have let whole neighborhoods be destroyed by landowners greed.Rents have gone through the roof while wages have been cut back. LAPDs slogan is supposedly to protect and serve now its too fine and hassle or do nothing. Viragosa has decided unilaterally to make LA a gateway City for illegal immagration and all the problems thats brings.San Fernando Valley is looking like Tijuana North not the sleepy clean supberb it once was. Its all a shame the city use to be a fun productive place to live. Now its just an overpriced hassle with none of its old redeeming charm.

All this stuff going on in the world the lousy politics, the crummy economy, family issues, the wars, getting older, all have been adding up to bumming me out of late.
I an takeing great solice in the beautiful things of nature. From that hope returns and I feel renewed and ever more mindful that to stay really happy is to stay with the connection of simple and beautiful things in the world
From that a better attitude springs and with the better attitude luck, and like same positive energy in other people.
I know it seems like the bad guys that caused this ecomomic mess are profiting at the losses incured by the working folks. I am determined that they will not win the battle and they wont if we dont let them. I am using the downtime productively and when the worm turns as he always does, I'll be ready.
